Who did it better? - DC Bombshells

 With the first look at the Funko DC Bombshells Mystery Mini series earlier today, it's a perfect opportunity to compare them with the existing Cryptozoic Lil’ Bombshells series.


 With a standard case and an exclusive 'Specialty Series' case, there are 15 in the Funko series to collect. A welcome bonus included in the announcement is that they will all be 1/12 ratio making them easily obtainable if you can acquire a case. The only downside, and many have already voiced this, they're infantile in appearance with too much emphasis on cutsie - which just isn't "Bombshell".


  As the source material dictates, they're presented as attractive, buxom and strong women with that early to mid 1900's feel and... well... a lotta moxy... In fact by definition -

  But who did it better? Cryptozoic led the charge with the release of their Lil' Bombshells series 1 in 2016.


   The Cryptozoic design opted for a slightly enlarged head, slender bodies, a lot of detail, and high quality control. They were like nothing else on the 3-4 inch Blind market at the time and came in a metal tin (snazzy!). The only problem were those pesky chase, which were nigh impossible to find. Series 1.5 was a blatant money grab, as the sculpts remained the same and colour variants were the only difference.


  With the release of series 2 there were finally new sculpts, but many were left questioning why the new Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn sculpts when other characters were due their day. However, the quality control remained high and there was already confirmation of a third series in the future.


 Considering the Funko series aren't expected until December of this year there is still a chance the designs may change slightly, but from what we do know let's weigh up:

  I guess it comes down to whether or not you want to start a similar series if you're already entrenched in Lil' Bombshells. Alternatively, if you found the Cryptozoic series a little out of your price range or you're a completitonist do Funko seem that little bit more appealing?  What do you think?
